Kaitlyn Duane

Kaitlyn Duane is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer from Colorado. She began as a Vaganova trained ballet dancer under the direction of David Taylor and Anastasiya Buechelle at Denver Ballet Theatre Academy. She also loves to branch out into modern and contemporary styles in both her performance and teaching practices. Kaitlyn is now in her second season as a company member with Klassic Contemporary Ballet Company in Philadelphia, PA and a faculty member at Ballet 180 School in Devon, PA.

 

Kaitlyn graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in dance from Mercyhurst University where the esteemed faculty included Tauna Hunter, Noelle Partusche, Jennifer McNamara, Leslie Bories-Scalise, and Mark and Solveig Santillano. She also minored in psychology and dance pedagogy, performed with SoMar Dance Works, and was president of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts. During her undergraduate studies, Kaitlyn is proud to have attended the American Ballet Theatre Collegiate Summer Intensive in New York, NY and completed a dance pedagogy internship at Longmont Dance Theatre in Longmont, CO. After graduation, Kaitlyn danced as a trainee with American Repertory Ballet in Princeton, NJ under the direction of Ethan Stiefel, Aydmara Cabrera, and Julie Diana Hench.

 

Kaitlyn is proud to be a faculty member at Ballet 180 School where she teaches ballet, contemporary, tap, and jazz to students of all ages. She is also co-director of the student company, which entails choreographing, organizing, and directing additional performances and events throughout the school year. Additionally, Kaitlyn is the founder and chapter sponsor for both the secondary and junior chapters of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts at Ballet 180 School. These programs provide enrichment to the overall dance education of students at the school, and it has been a joy for Kaitlyn to witness their growth. To further develop her pedagogical practices, Kaitlyn is completing her certification in Progressing Ballet Technique.

 

Kaitlyn has performed a variety of roles, such as Italian Princess Soloist and Little Swan in Swan Lake, Dew Drop in The Nutcracker, Spanish Doll soloist in Coppelia, First Soloist in Paquita, and corps roles in Sleeping Beauty and Giselle. Her choreographic works include Spectr⚥m, Flawed Ideals, Utopian Dysfunction, Tri-Phrase Patterns, and To Come, To Go, and To Stay. Kaitlyn aspires to instill the same love of dance and self-expression in young artists as her teachers inspired in her, sharing her art with others through performance, choreography, and teaching in every opportunity she can find.
